Residential projects

Norfolk Adds 700 Apartment Units

The nature of Norfolk’s apartment market changed drastically during the past year, as several new residential developments reached completion. The Belmont at Freemason, 201 at Twenty-one, and River House Apartments added almost seven hundred new apartment units, with the District at ODU to add over 300 additional units (and room for nearly 1,000 college students) this fall. Ground has been broken for Phase II of the Wells Fargo building which will include additional retail and over one hundred apartments.

Downtown Affordable Housing

There are other exciting projects in the works, including the renovation of the historic Union Mission and Savoy Hotel into downtown apartments.

EarthCraft Housing

The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority will begin construction soon on fourteen EarthCraft townhomes along the south side of 26th Street at Hampton Boulevard in Lamberts Point. The homes will incorporate green construction methods and materials with EnergyStar equipment and appliances.
